I could get used to this you know? A summer of sport. A summer of lounging... and I am not even going to mention cricket. Or the Grand Prix...
For the last month, nations from around the world have been kicking a football all over South Africa in the hopes of winning what must be the ugliest trophy in sport. And when you win it, no-one can see that you've won it because all the names of the winning countries are on the underside of the base. But does it matter? The winners will know and this year, there will be a new name on the base. Netherlands face Spain in the final on Sunday and neither have won it before. It'll be a hard fought game I'm sure...
Other sports... the Wimbledon thing has finished and Britain has a champion... well, two actually. Not in the singles and not in the men's singles but in the boy's doubles. And well done to them! (Though their names escape me...)
I was at Henley-on-Thames last week for the Royal Regatta. I'll be there again next year and will probably even camp over. Really enjoyed it this year. Great racing, great weather and great company but it was all too brief... so an overnight stay is definitely in order. Of course this would allow me to try some of the excellent refreshments that are on offer...
Other rowing... the third and final round of the world cup takes place this weekend from Lucerne. Follow the results here.

Some horse racing has gone on. I usually go to Royal Ascot but didn't bother this year... enjoyed watching Workforce win the Derby though.
Currently the Tour de France is happening in France. As a bit of a cyclist myself, I really enjoy watching this. It is in my opinion, a great spectator sport. In particularly the prologues... Stage 5 today so barely into to the thing... a couple more weeks of this is bliss. This'll get me a bit closer to September and the Tour of Britain. (I'll be watching the final stage in London...)
And the blog title... I need to 'rest'. Cleared the 'dumping ground' that is called the garage yesterday. It could (and possibly should) be incorporated into the Olympics as an endurance sport... Or maybe be included on the Krypton Factor but in reverse? You know, start with a pile of crap and make it all fit into a garage...
So a rest is in order. I am knackered! To recap, the TdeF for the next couple of weeks, the Rowing World Cup for the next couple of days with the World Cup final thrown in on Sunday which, I will be watching somewhere with some friends no doubt. So who'll get their names on the bottom of that trophy? No doubt this will be discussed on Sunday before the game. And probably during too. And my answer will be 'I don't know... but I hope they'll be wearing orange'.
Wij houden van Oranje! Come on the Netherlands... make me just that little bit richer!
